Imprinted and ready to get sniffing? Competing and wanting to develop your skills further? This is the course for you. Learn the ins and outs of SSANZ and Dogs NZ competitions and practice, practice, practice.
PRE-REQUISITE: You and your dog must have completed Scent Imprinting with Dogs First, or have approval from us to join this class (contact us).
Course includes:
- 5 x 1.5 hours

5 weekday evenings (6.30 or 7.45pm start) or 4 weekday evenings (6.30 or 7.45pm start) + 1 x weekend morning 10.00-11.30am. Available options will be listed below.
- Small class size – less waiting more sniffing!
PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to run 2 or more dogs, they will have to take turns to search – i.e. Dog 1 does search 1, Dog 2 does search 2, Dog 1 does search 3, and so on. Alternatively, you can book two class spaces for your dogs.

This course takes you beyond imprinting and relies on the dog being solidly imprinted on one odour. We focus on building the handler skills of reading their dog and introduce more complex hides. We imprint the dogs onto other odours. We delve into the behaviour of scent in different conditions and understanding how this affects your dogs' work.
You will receive an email with confirmation of dates, times, locations and what to bring before the course starts.
Once you finish Scent Team Synergy, the next step is Develop & Prepare and trialing.

Absolutely Loved this course. Was amazing seeing our dogs progress from the imprinting phase to being able to search and find hides in new environments. So well run, great venues and I learned so much. I attended this class with our reactive dog and the Dogs First team were so kind and considerate and made sure we were set up for success.

Highly recommend imprinting and synergy classes. I have done both with one of my dogs just a few months after adopting him. He’s a nervous rescue and struggles in new environments, but the team really set the dogs up for success and he’s very quickly gained so much confidence out in the world. The classes have also helped strengthen our bond much more than I imagined they would. Sheelah, Antonia and Claudia are so kind and patient, and really go above and beyond to help you grow and learn. The environment is also very well set up for reactive dogs, so I will be signing my other dog up to start imprinting after seeing how well others have done with their reactive dogs! This course is fantastic! It’s run so incredibly well and it was a lot of fun to practice searching in new places and environments.
The team are so kind and patient and keep the dogs wellbeing front of mind – while my dog isn’t dog-reactive, he is very excitable (he just loves the sniffing game we’re playing 🙂 ) and Sheelah, Claudia and Antonia were so patient with him and gave us some great advice on how to harness this as we start to enter trials.
I cannot recommend these courses enough – so much that I can’t wait to start the imprinting one with a second dog (that we don’t even have yet!)
